Your First Day!

Your First Day Hero GAB

Welcome!

Your first day at a new company is always special! Our priority is to ensure you feel at ease and receive a comprehensive overview. This is why the Training & Recruitment Department will welcome you and and share all the pertinent information for your initial period with the company during your Welcome Event.

Here's what you can expect:

  • You'll be introduced to your Work Unit, understand who your Mentor is and meet other team members;
  • You'll be provided with the company devices/tools necessary for your work;
  • You'll be shown how to record your working hours and what to do in case of sickness or tardiness;
  • You'll be shown the tools and programmes that will facilitate your training;
  • Finally, you can share your expectations regarding your initial onboarding period.

That's quite a lot of information and tasks, so it's important, especially at the start, to ask questions if anything is unclear.

Remember the following rules to record your working time...

Your badge is personal, make sure that you bring it to work and that you take good care of it. Please make sure that it is not accessible to other employees and, should you lose it, inform your superiors at once. Remember to adhere to your work schedule!

You are responsible for recording your own working hours with your badge. Please ensure that you record your start, break and end time accordingly. Lidl pays for every minute worked. Ensure that the punch clock has registered your timings. In case of difficulty, or if you notice any mistakes, please speak to your manager. Remember that you may view your registered timings.

Always keep in mind that:

- You must have a rest period of 11 hours between shifts;

- You may not work more than 6 consecutive days;

- You may only work up to 48 hours per week;

- Where the working day is longer than 6 hours, you are to take no less than 15 minutes uninterrupted.

All breaks, including cigarette breaks, are to be recorded. The only exception is for bathroom breaks, that do not need to be recorded. Manual punches are to be avoided unless strictly necessary. Should you punch manually, ensure that a Correction Form is duly completed and signed by both you and your manager.
