Celebrating with the community
Our Gozitan colleagues thought of our furry friends who have no voice to speak up with. They visited the SPCA and gave them a wide variety of foodstuffs for all the dogs and cats they take care of. They also met Lady, the lovely dog who have been with the NGO for the last 11 years and has now become their mascot!
The Lidl Luqa outlet team joined up with the Head Office team and visited the elderly at the Saint Vincent De Paule residence. The institute, which is a hybrid between a hospital and a home hosts over 1,100 residents. The colleagues played bingo with the elderly and gave them some fantastic prizes to be drawn.
The children at the locality summer school enjoyed a refreshing fruit salad prepared by the Safe staff. Apart from receiving this treat, one of the team also read them a story about a mischievous wold who always ends up in trouble!
Santa Venera BBQ
Our Santa Venera fired up the bbq at the St. Joseph home in their locality. Apart from preparing a mouth-watering meal consisting of burgers, hot dogs, fries, salad and Gelatelli ice-creams for the boys, the team brought a variety of games, such as football goal posts and dart pistols amongst others, to further liven up the night. The Spiderman car track was however, by far, the most appreciated gift!
The San Gwann team decided to help out the community in a two-fold manner. The local council there works a lot to help reduce social seclusion of the elderlies and amongst the various activities they organise, they organised a BBQ for the elderlies in June. The San Gwann team decided to donate all the food for this event. Additionally, the locality also has cat shelters which are maintained in tip top condition and the team donated a large amount of cat food to these shelters.
Our team working at the Mosta store decided to collaborate with the public library in their community. The library is set in the heart of the locality and conveniently situated next to the civic centre for ease of accessibility. The Mosta team set up a box for the donation of various second hand books in good condition in their break room, which was filled up. Around €150 worth of new books were also given to the Public Library.
Our Qormi colleagues got together to clean up the Federico Maempel park opposite the school in the locality. Being an area especially thought of for children and families to relax as well as have fun in a safe environment, they felt that the grounds should reflect the atmosphere this should have and work towards promoting a cleaner area. The local council kindly provided all the equipment necessary to help out in this initiative!
Our team working at the Zejtun store decided to collaborate with the public library in their community. The library is especially popular with children between the ages of 5 and 11 and lends around 14,000 books yearly. A box was set up at the outlet for the donation of any second hand books in good condition while around €150 worth of new books were bought to be donated to this institution.
